SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University head baseball coach Matt McCarty was named NCBWA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year and five Rams gained All-Region honors. Senior pitcher Paul Hvozdovic (Herndon, Va./Herndon), senior outfielder Michael Lott (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge), junior catcher Spencer Wolfe (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown/USC Aiken), and freshman second baseman Jacob Carney (Stephens City, Va./Sherando) were NCBWA and Daktronics first team selections, while junior outfielder Matt Wilson (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley/Essex CC) was a second team NCBWA choice.

McCarty, who was also named MEC Coach of the Year, has led the Rams to a 38-12 overall mark and an appearance in the 2014 Division II Baseball Championship Atlantic Regional Tournament as the number two seed.

Hvozdovic led the Rams on the mound with a 11-0 mark with a 1.56 ERA. He had fanned 91 and walked only six in 81.0 innings. Hvozdovic has eight complete games with four shutouts and two combined shutouts.

Lott led the Rams with a .418 batting average with team bests of 74 hits in 177 at-bats. He has scored 52 runs and driven in 34. Lott added 11 doubles, a triple, and three home runs. He is 27-of-35 in stolen bases.

Wolfe has a.406 batting average with 65 hits in 160 at-bats. He leads the Rams in doubles (18), home runs (7), runs scored (56), total bases (104), and slugging percentage (.650). His 52 RBI's are second on the team. Wolfe is 21-of-25 in stolen bases.

Carney has a .370 batting average with 50 hits in 135 at-bats. He has driven in 37 runs and scored 29. He added seven doubles, two triples, and a home run. Carney is 20-of-22 in stolen bases.

Wilson has a .384 batting average with 48 hits in a 125 at-bats. He has scored 43 runs and driven in 37. Wilson has eight doubles, a triple, and three home runs. He has 18 stolen bases in 21 attempts.
