SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman defender Chad Ridenour (Williamsport, MD/Williamsport) scored on an assist from senior forward Shane Lowery (Boonsboro, MD/Boonsboro) at the 73:50 mark to lift Shepherd University to a 2-1 win over Chowan in men's soccer action at Shepherd on Tuesday.

Chowan took a 1-0 lead into the break when Jose Oteze scored on a feed from Dale Pearson at the 39:33 mark.

Shepherd tied the game at the 65:20 mark on a penalty kick by senior defender Robel Desta (Addis Abeba, Ethiopia/Springbrook{MD}).

Shepherd had a 32-17 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Alex Aleshire (Hagerstown, MD/Williamsport) recorded six saves for the Rams. Grayson Smith posted nine saves for the Hawks.

Shepherd improves to 7-8-1, while Chowan falls to 2-14-0. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they travel to Ohio Valley for a 2:30 p.m. contest.
