CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Twelfth-ranked University of Charleston handed Shepherd University a 6-0 setback in WVIAC men's soccer action at Charleston on Wednesday night.
Charleston took a 1-0 lead into the break behind an unassisted goal by Dan Wamsley at the 31:23 mark.
The Golden Eagles got a pair of goals from Jules Gabbiadini and single tallies by Rob Vincent, Garrett Listo, and Lewis Osborne to pull away in the second half.
Freshman goalkeeper Alex Aleshire (Hagerstown, MD/Williamsport) (5) and senior goalkeeper David Leonard (Harpers Ferry, WV/Jefferson) (6) combined to record 11 saves for the Rams. Sean Teepen (2) and James Bailey (1) teamed to post three saves for the Golden Eagles.
Charleston had a 31-4 advantage in shots and an 11-1 edge in corner kicks.
Shepherd falls to 5-8-1, 3-4-0 in conference play, while Charleston improves to 9-1-3, 6-0-0. The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Pitt-Johnstown for a 3 p.m. conference matchup.
