CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Shepherd University rallied past University of Charleston for a 2-1 victory in WVIAC women's soccer action at Charleston on Wednesday.
Charleston took a 1-0 lead when Kelsey LaCroix scored on an assist from Renee Boudreau at the 17:05 mark.
Shepherd answered back at the 69:28 mark on an unassisted goal by sophomore forward Taylor Amsley (Saint Thomas, PA/James Buchanan).
Freshman forward Kylie Duffin (Ventor, NJ/Holy Spirit) scored the game-winner on a feed from Amsley at the 83:21 mark.
Charleston had a 15-10 advantage in shots while Shepherd had a 3-2 edge in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) recorded 10 saves for the Rams, while Jennifer Poppe (2) and Megan Bauman (2) combined for four saves for the Golden Eagles.
Shepherd improves to 4-7-3, 3-3-2 in conference play, while Charleston falls to 6-8-2, 4-3-1. The Rams return to action on Sunday when they host Pitt-Johnstown for a 1 p.m. contest.
