SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - West Virginia Wesleyan handed Shepherd University a 2-1 setback in WVIAC men's soccer action at Shepherd on Sunday.
Nicholas Amberman for Wesleyan scored at the 57:30 mark with an assist from Jordan Halpern to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
Senior forward Shane Lowery (Boonsboro, MD/Boonsboro) scored an unassisted goal for the Rams to tie the match at the 81:15 mark.
West Virginia Wesleyan's Matthew Brown scored the game-winning goal with an assist from Daniel Smee at the 83:48 mark.
Freshman goalkeeper Alex Aleshire (Hagerstown, MD/Willliamsport) recorded six saves for the Rams. Derek Ayers had a pair of saves for the Bobcats.
Wesleyan had a 12-4 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
The Bobcats improve to 10-3-0, 5-1-0 in conference play, while Shepherd falls to 5-7-1, 3-3-0. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Charleston for a 7 p.m. conference matchup.
