SHEPHERD WOMEN’S SOCCER KNOCKS OFF WHEELING JESUIT, 2-1 (9-26-2012)
WHEELING, W.Va. -- Sophomore midfielder Kasey Canterbury (Berryville, VA/Clarke County) scored a goal and assisted on another to lead Shepherd University to a 2-1 win over Wheeling Jesuit in WVIAC women's soccer action at Wheeling Jesuit on Wednesday.
The Rams took a 1-0 lead when sophomore midfielder Kelsey J. Smith (York, PA/Central York) found the back of the net on an assist from sophomore midfielder Kasey Canterbury (Berryville, VA/Clarke County) at the 23:34 mark.
Shepherd increased its lead to 2-0 when Canterbury scored with an assist from junior defender Kelsey Eagan (Baltimore, MD/Sparrows Point) at the 48:25 mark.
Wheeling Jesuit avoided the shutout as Ashley McGinnis scored off a corner kick by Jenna Klemkowsky at the 89:40 mark.
Wheeling Jesuit had a 19-6 advantage in shots and a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
Senior goalkeeper Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) had five saves for the Rams, while Holly Kraus did not record a save for the Cardinals.

Shepherd  improves to 2-4-1, 2-1-1 in WVIAC action, while Wheeling Jesuit falls to  1-7-1, 1-4. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Mansfield for a 1:30 p.m. contest.
