SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- The Big Horn Club Corporate Challenge Golf Tournament was held on Monday, September 10 at Cress Creek. It was a great day for Shepherd basketball as $7,500 was raised for the Shepherd Men’s Basketball Scholarship Fund. A special thanks goes out to all of the participants for making the day a huge success.
We would also like to thank our silver sponsors Holtzman Propane, Jefferson Security Bank, and United Bank for sponsoring this event, and our lunch and dinner sponsors, Cress Creek, Holtzman Propane, and Whale of a Wash, and our beverage sponsor Jefferson Distributing.
One individual deserves special recognition, the chair of the Big Horn Club, Mr. Hank Walter. He is the driving force behind this tournament and a big reason why it is such a successful event for our program.
The winning corporation was Center for Orthopedic Excellence, which consisted of Todd Hoffmaster, Joe Lewis, Doug Tucker, and Kory Tucker. The winning foursome received two season tickets, four tickets to the spring awards banquet, a basketball signed by the 2012-13 Rams, four golf polos, four gift certificates to the pro shop at Cress Creek, and the name Center for Orthopedic Excellence on a banner to be hung in the Butcher Center this season. The winning team will be presented with the Big Horn Trophy during our Mid-Season reception on Saturday, February 9. The reception will begin after our 4 p.m. game against Concord.
The second place finisher was Jefferson Security Bank, which consisted of Bill Butcher, Keith McCall, Kathy Morris, and Larry Ringer. They received two tickets to the spring awards banquet, and four gift certificates to the pro shop at Cress Creek.
