ATHENS, W.Va. – Kari Simon scored at the 97:35 mark to lift Concord to a 2-1 overtime win over Shepherd University in WVIAC women's soccer action at Anderson Field on Sunday.
Concord took a 1-0 lead into the break when Alyanna James scored on an assist from Simon at the 23:02 mark.
Shepherd tied the game at 1-1 all at the 62:27 mark when freshman forward Kylie Duffin (Ventor, NJ/Holy Spirit) scored on a feed from sophomore midfielder Lexi Vondrak (Harrisonburg, VA/Harrisonburg).
Simon scored the overtime game-winner on an assist from Kaitlyn Wasylko.
Shepherd had a 13-12 edge in shots, while Concord had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Junior Elizabeth Wise (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) and senior Tessa Jones (Gaithersburg, MD/Magruder) each recorded two saves for the Rams, while Wasylko had seven saves for Concord.
Shepherd falls to 1-3-0 overall, 1-1-0 in WVIAC action, while Concord improves to 1-4-1, 1-2-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Davis & Elkins for a noon contest.
