SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University dropped a 3-2 decision to Kutztown in volleyball action in the WVIAC-PSAC Crossover at the Butcher Center on Saturday night. The Golden Bears battled for a 19-25, 25-19, 14-25, 25-14, 15-11 victory.
Senior outside hitter/libero Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy), junior middle hitter Meg Kenny (Lynchburg, VA/E.C. Glass), and sophomore middle hitter Kayla Motheral (Sterling, VA/Potomac Falls) each had 12 kills to pace the Rams.
Junior outside hitter Kayla Walker (Palmyra, VA/Fluvanna County) added 11 kills and 17 digs, while sophomore setter Taylor Belella (Smithsburg, MD/Smithsburg) had 20 digs.Senior setter Sara Michael (Winchester, VA/James Wood/Hagerstown CC) contributed 53 assists, eight digs, and four blocks. Chelsea Braga had 15 kills and 25 digs to lead Kutztown.
Shepherd falls to 4-6 on the year. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when the travel to Lock Haven for a 7 p.m. contest
