SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Senior forward Shane Lowery (Boonsboro, MD/Boonsboro) scored on an assist from junior midfielder Abel Setegn (Arakilo, Ethiopia/Winston Churchill {MD}) at the 60:48 mark to lift Shepherd University to a 1-0 win over West Chester in men’s soccer action at Shepherd on Wednesday.
West Chester had an 11-10 edge in shots and a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Freshman goalkeeper Alex Aleshire (Hagerstown, MD/Willliamsport) had five saves in a shutout effort for the Rams. Garrett Bleiler (3) and Kevin Marron (1) combined for four saves for the Golden Rams. Shepherd improves to 2-0-1, while West Chester falls to 0-1-0. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Gannon for a 3:30 contest.
