MINNICH DRAFTED BY THE BOSTON RED SOX (6-5-2012)
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Senior first baseman Nathan Minnich (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro Area Sr.) of the Shepherd University baseball has been selected by the Boston Red Sox in the eighth round of the Major League Baseball Draft on Tuesday. Minnich, the 271st overall pick, is the first Shepherd baseball player to be selected in the draft after playing for the Rams.
Minnich, named the Tino Martinez Award winner as the most outstanding play in DII baseball, will be honored by the Hagerstown Suns as they host Nathan Minnich Night on Wednesday (June 6) at Municipal Stadium in Hagerstown, MD with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm. Minnich will be honored in a pregame ceremony by the Suns and will be made available for autographs.
