DUE WEST, S.C. – Sophomore attack Hanna Wharton (Ijamsville, MD/Urbana) scored five goals, while sophomore attack Christina Ferrara (California, MD/Leonardtown and freshman attack Georgia Karr (Eldersburg, MD/Liberty) each tallied four to lead Shepherd University to a 24-10 win over Erskine in women’s lacrosse action at Erskine on Thursday.
Sophomore midfielder Jenny Cavey (Sykesville, MD/Westminster) had a pair of goals, while freshmen Alyx Albano (Wayne, NJ/ Wayne Hills) and Maddie O’Leary (Salisbury, MD/James M. Bennett) each had one.
The Rams also got two assists from freshman attack Hayley Roper (California, MD/Leonardtown) and one apiece from Karr and Albano.
Samantha Burns had a game-high six goals to lead Erskine.
Freshman netminder Lily Schmulowitz (Baltimore, MD/Catonsville) recorded seven saves for the Rams, while Kaitlyn Overley had 11 saves for Erskine.
Shepherd had a 40-22 advantage in shots with a 24-18 edge in ground balls. Erskine had a 21-15 advantage in draw controls.
The Rams improve to 7-0 on the season, while Erskine falls to 1-6. The Rams return to action on Saturday when they host Kutztown for a 1 p.m. contest.
