BALANCED ATTACK LEADS SHEPHERD MEN PAST OHIO VALLEY, 88-68 (1-7-2012)
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Junior forward Chad Moore (Winchester, VA/John Handley) scored 27 points, sophomore guard Brantley Osborne (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) had 22, and junior forward Sidney McCray (Milton, FL/St. Pauls (MD) School) added 21 to lead Shepherd University to an 88-68 win over Ohio Valley in WVIAC men’s basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday.
Moore hit on 11-of-19 shots with a 5-of-8 effort from the line.
Moore, McCray, and freshman center Chauncey Burgazli (Williamsburg, VA/Bruton) each had eight rebounds to tie for team-high rebounding honors.
Sophomore guard Marcus Pilgrim (Mitchellville, MD/Bishop McNamara) added 10 points and a team-high six assists.
Austin Cunningham had 16 points and eight assists, while Kendall Allison added 14 points and nine boards to lead the Fighting Scots.
Shepherd hit on 47.1 percent (32-68) of its shots from the floor and Ohio Valley hit at 39.4 percent (26-66). The Rams were 10-of-19 (52.6 percent) from three-point range, while limiting the Fighting Scots to a 4-of-22 (18.2 percent) effort.
The Rams had a commanding 49-36 advantage on the boards.
Shepherd improves to 7-5, 5-3 in WVIAC action, while Ohio Valley falls to 3-8, 3-5. The Rams return to action on Monday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan for an 8 p.m. contest.
