SHEPHERD WOMEN'S SOCCER KNOCKS OFF SETON HILL, 3-1 (10-17-2009)
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Shepherd University knocked off Seton Hill, 3-1, in WVIAC women’s soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday afternoon.
Shepherd took 1-0 lead in the fifth minute when sophomore forward Erin Quinn (Ft. Collins, CO/Poudre) scored on an assist from sophomore midfielder Ashley Bryant (Waldorf, MD/Westlake).
The Rams took a 2-0 lead on an unassisted tally by sophomore midfielder Amanda Lundstrom (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown) in the 36th minute.
Mackiesh Taylor scored with an assist from Alysha Alaimo for the Griffins minutes later to cut the lead to 2-1 going into intermission.
Sophomore forward Brianna Hines (Woodbridge, VA/Potomac) scored in the 87th minute on a feed from Bryant to seal the win.
Sophomore netminder Lauren Vetock (Pasadena, MD/ Institute of Notre Dame) had seven saves for the Rams. Jenna Forzano had 10 saves for the Griffins.
Shepherd improves to 4-8-2, 2-3-1 in WVIAC action, while Seton Hill falls to 4-10-0, 3-4-0. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Alderson-Broaddus for a 3 p.m. contest.
