SHEPHERD VOLLEYBALL GAINS PAIR OF CONFERENCE WINS (9-19-2009)
GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Shepherd University volleyball team gained a pair of conference wins on the road this weekend. Shepherd handed West Virginia Wesleyan a 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 setback on Friday evening and added a hard-fought 25-23, 22-25, 20-25, 25-18, 15-7 victory over Glenville State on Saturday.
Sophomore middle hitter Amanda Hall (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) had 13 kills and senior setter Jane Thompson (Cincinnati, OH/Walnut Hills) added 18 assists to pace the Rams against West Virginia Wesleyan.
Hall had 19 kills and senior middle hitter Emily McCoy (Great Cacapon, WV/Berkeley Springs) had 14 kills and six blocks to pace the Rams against Glenville State. Junior libero Julie Robertson (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) recorded a team–high 31 digs, while freshman outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) added eight kills and 13 digs.
Shepherd moves to 7-6 overall, 3-0 in conference play. The Rams return to action on Friday when they host Davis & Elkins for a 7 p.m. contest.
