SHEPHERD VOLLEYBALL GOES 1-1 AT IUP CROSS-OVER (9-12-2009)

INDIANA, Pa. – The Shepherd University volleyball team went 1-1 on the day in final round action of the of the Indiana (Pa.) Cross-Over Tourney on Saturday. The Rams downed Slippery Rock, 25-19, 25-21, 20-25, 29-27 before falling to host IUP, 25-14, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19.

Sophomore middle hitter Amanda Hall (Virginia Beach, VA/Cox) had 17 kills and 14 digs to pace the Rams against Slippery Rock. senior setter Jane Thompson (Cincinnati, OH/Walnut Hills) added 26 assists and junior libero Julie Robertson (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) contributed a team-high 17 digs.

Hall added a team-best 12 kills against IUP. Freshman outside hitter Kasey Mercier (Baltimore, MD/Mount de Sales Academy) had eight kills and 12 digs, while Robertson recorded 18 digs.

Shepherd moves to 4-6. The Rams return to action on Thursday when they host Pitt Johnstown for a 7 p.m. contest.
