EASTON, Mass. – Kayla Parker scored a game-high 20 points to lead Assumption College to a 72-51 win over Shepherd University in women’s basketball action at the Skyhawks Classic at Stonehill College on Sunday afternoon.

Kelly Meredith added 16 points, while Bethany Plasski tossed in 15 points and had a game-high four steals.

Shepherd was led by senior guard Anna Kauffman (Strasburg, VA/Lewistown{Pa.}) with 13 points on a 6-of-10 shooting effort from the floor.

Senior forward Katie Warehime (Littlestown, PA/Littlestown/Fairleigh Dickinson) added 10 points, while senior forward Colleen Shumaker (Haymarket, VA/George Mason) had nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds en route to All-Tournament honors.

The Rams shot only 35.8 (19-53) percent from the floor, while Assumption connected on 48.3 (29-60) percent of its shots. Shepherd held a 38-to-30 rebounding advantage.

Shepherd falls to 0-2, while Assumption improves to 2-0. The Rams return to action on Wednesday when they host Cheyney for a 6:00 p.m. contest.
