SHEPHERD WOMEN'S SOCCER WINS THIRD STRAIGHT WITH 2-0 TRIUMPH OVER LAKE ERIE
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman midfielder Ashley Bryant (Waldorf, MD/Westlake) and freshman forward Brianna Hines (Woodbridge, VA/Potomac) each scored a goal to lead Shepherd University to a 2-0 win over Lake Erie College in women’s soccer action at Shepherd on Saturday. The win was the third straight victory for the Rams.
Shepherd took a 1-0 lead at the 21:20 mark when Bryant scored on a feed from freshman midfielder Amanda Lundstrom (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown). Bryant also assisted on Hines’ goal at the 23:30 mark.
Shepherd held a 9-2 shots advantage in the contest.
Freshmen goalkeepers Lauren Vetock (Pasadena, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) and Traci McCarty (Hughesville, PA/Hughesville) (one save each) recorded a shutout for the Rams, while Chelsea Gieson had four saves for the Storm.
Shepherd improves to 8-10-0 overall, while Lake Erie falls to 2-10-0. The Rams return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Pitt Johnstown for a 3 p.m. contest.
