STAMBAUGH RESIGNS TO TAKE JOB AT TIFFIN (8-20-2008)

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Chris Stambaugh, head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Shepherd, has resigned to take over the head coaching duties at Tiffin University. An announcement on Stambaugh’s replacement is expected in the next few days.

Stambaugh coached the Rams from 1997-2008 and compiled a 180-69 (.723) record for the men and a 121-96 (.557) mark for the women. He recorded a 301-145 (.675) overall mark.

Stambaugh led the men’s team to WVIAC titles in 2002, 2003, and 2005. The Ram men had six straight first place regular season finishes from 2002-2007. He also led the women to the conference crown in 2003. The four-time WVIAC Coach of the Year coached the all-time individual win leaders for both the men (Mike Farrell) and women (Jess Clarke).  Stambaugh also served as mentor for two-time WVIAC Player of the Year Casey Moser (2006, 2007) .
