SHEPHERD RECEIVES COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AWARD OF EXCELLENCE (5-13-2008)

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – Shepherd University has been named the winner of the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA)/NCAA Division II Community Engagement Award of Excellence for the West Virginia Conference. Shepherd is one of 22 winners from across the country to receive $500 for a great community engagement idea.

Shepherd was selected for including a football weekend as part of its presidential inauguration festivities.

NCAA Division II and the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) staged the contest to build momentum for Division II's community-engagement initiative and reward institutions for their creativity in advancing the initiative. Division II schools were encouraged to submit their best community-engagement promotion from the "ideas that work" section on the Division II community-engagement Web site (www.diicommunity.org).
