Long-time top assistant coach Melanie Ford has been elevated to associate head coach status in recognition of her loyalty, hard work, and dedication to the program. Former Glenville State standout Tammy Spence has been hired as an assistant coach. She replaces Gail Siemer, who resigned to pursue other interests.

SHEPHERD WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM RANKED 11TH IN WBCA ACADEMIC TOP 25 (7-14-2008)
The Shepherd University women's basketball team was honored today by Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) as a member of the 2007-08 Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. Shepherd ranked 11th among NCAA II schools with an impressive 3.488 grade point average. This award, given in NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA and Junior College/Community College, awards teams throughout the nation that carry the highest grade point averages (GPA) for the entire season based on the nomination submitted by WBCA-member head coaches.
