Shepherd University head softball coach Leslie Lopez will be hosting the Mid-Atlantic Regional of the Junior Day Softball Prospect Camp & Showcase at Shepherd on June 19. This one-day event is for 2014 and 2015 high school graduates only. Coaches from George Washington University, George Mason University, Towson University, University of Hartford, and Susquehanna University will also be instructing.

Five members of the Shepherd University softball team have been named to the 2013 All-WVIAC Softball team. Sophomore outfielder Tayler Schaefer (Dunkirk, MD/Northern) gained first team honors, while sophomore first baseman Savannah Snyder (Elkton, MD/Padua Academy) was a second team choice. Senior outfielder Bianca Biondillo (Canfield, OH/Canfield), junior catcher Carly Schmidt (Leesburg, VA/Heritage/Patrick Henry CC), and sophomore outfielder Shanan Plunkett (Hagerstown, MD/North Hagerstown) were honorable mention selections.

FOUR RAMS EARN ALL-WVIAC SOFTBALL HONORS (5-6-2009)
Four members of the Shepherd University softball team were selected to the 2009 All-WVIAC team. Sophomore shortstop Courtni Williams (Charles Town, WV/Musselman) and freshman pitcher/first baseman Tricia Bettura (Canfield, OH/Canfield) were second team selections, while senior outfielder Amy Edmondson (Hamilton, VA/Loudoun Valley) and freshman pitcher Erica Snoddy (Salem, OH/Lisbon David Anderson) gained honorable mention honors.

Wheeling Jesuit (17-20, 8-8) swept Shepherd University (22-19, 15-11) in WVIAC softball doubleheader action at Wheeling Jesuit on Saturday. The Cardinals gained a 6-0 win in game one and gained the sweep with a 1-0 win in nine innings in the nightcap.

Freshman pitcher Tricia Bettura (Canfield, OH/Canfield) belted a walk-off solo homer in game one and senior designated player Amanda Orkoskey (Wheeling, WV/Wheeling Central Catholic) smacked a three-homer in the nightcap to lift Shepherd University (22-17, 15-9) to a sweep of Glenville State (19-20, 15-9) in WVIAC softball doubleheader action at Shepherd on Thursday. The Rams gained a 2-1 win in game one and held on for a 4-3 victory in the nightcap.

SHEPHERD SOFTBALL PICKED THIRD IN PRESEASON POLL (2-4-2009)
The Shepherd University softball team has been picked third in the 2009 WVIAC Coaches' Preseason Poll. Defending WVIAC regular season champion West Virginia Wesleyan is the overwhelming favorite to capture the 2009 league softball crown. Steve Warner's Bobcats, who have captured 14 of the past 17 WVIAC regular season titles, earned 13 of 15 votes from league's coaches for the top spot.

The Shepherd University women’s athletic teams will hold their first S.W.I.N.G. (Shepherd Women Inspiring Networking Growing) event of the 2008-09 year when they host Longaberger Basket Bingo on Oct. 12 at the Shepherdstown Fire Hall. Doors open at 1 p.m. with bingo starting at 2 p.m.
