Shepherd University director of athletics B.J. Pumroy announced today that Matt McCarty '10 has been elevated to interim head baseball coach and that Anthony Jackson '11 has been elevated from part-time assistant coach to interim full-time assistant coach for the 2012-13 academic year. Both of them were players in the 2009 season when the Rams won the WVIAC title and served as assistant coaches in 2012 when the team won the title.

Senior first baseman Nathan Minnich (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro Area Sr.) went 3-4 with a pair of home runs to lead Shepherd University to a 12-2 win over Lock Haven in baseball action at the Ram Invitational at Fairfax Field on Friday. Indiana (Pa.) held on for an 8-6 win over the Rams in the later game. Minnich set a new Shepherd career mark for home runs with 42. He surpasses the old mark of 40 set by Mike Spry (2000-03).
