 Junior forward Emily Daniel (Beaver, WV/Shady Spring) scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Shepherd University to a 71-60 win over West Liberty in WVIAC women’s basketball action at West Liberty on Wednesday night.
 

The Shepherd University baseball team has been picked to finish fourth in the WVIAC North in the 2012 WVIAC Baseball Preseason Poll as chosen by the league's head coaches. Davis & Elkins has been selected to win the 2012 WVIAC Tournament.

Senior first baseman Nathan Minnich (Waynesboro, PA/Waynesboro Area) of the Shepherd University baseball team has been named to the 2012 NCBWA Division II Preseason All-America Team. Minnich was a first team selection.

The Shepherd University softball team has been picked to finish second in the 2012 WVIAC Coaches' Preseason Poll. With seven first-place votes, defending conference champion West Virginia Wesleyan has been selected to win the league title.

Sophomore guard Brantley Osborne (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) drained a three-pointer with three seconds remaining to lift Shepherd University to a 56-53 win over West Virginia State in WVIAC men’s basketball action at the Butcher Center on Saturday. The Rams snapped a four game losing skid with the win.

The Shepherd University Women's Athletic Alliance will sponsor a free Recruiting Information session on Saturday (January 28) at the Shepherd University Wellness Center. The event is geared toward providing recruiting process information to student-athletes (grades 9-12), parents and coaches.

Freshman center Gabby Flinchum (North Potomac, MD/Wootton) hit a three-point play with 1:15 remaining and stole a Charleston inbounds pass as time expired to lift Shepherd University to a 52-50 win over University of Charleston in WVIAC women’s basketball action at the Butcher Center on Thursday night.

The Shepherd University women’s basketball team recently hosted a successful Free Throw-A-Thon in December. The Rams raised over $2,000.00 for the Mustico family. The Mustico’s are friends of senior guard Melissa Furr.

The Shepherd University women’s basketball team will be hosting a pair of special events in early February. On Saturday, February 4, the Rams will host their annual Alumni Game at 11 a.m. prior to doubleheader action against Concord. On Monday, February 6, the faculty at Shepherd will for honored on Faculty Night during the doubleheader against Seton Hill.

The Shepherd University Athletic Hall of Fame inducted four new members at the annual induction banquet last Friday at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center in Shepherdstown. Football standout Mark Brower '84, Darren Iden '89 (men’s tennis), and Tara Saville ’95 (volleyball), joined Adam Straskulic '01 (baseball) as the 26th class to be inducted. The "fantastic four" bring the total number of members in the Shepherd Athletic Hall of Fame to 125.
